Horse & Flag Series

Beginning in 2004, Sybil Hill Carter created a series of large-scale paintings combining two powerful symbols of the American West — the horse and the American flag. Using retired flags generously donated by the local American Legion, each work was painted with deep respect for the flag’s integrity while celebrating the spirit and strength of the horse.

These paintings became an important part of Sybil’s early career, finding homes with collectors across the West. Created while raising her young daughter as a single mother, the series reflects both independence and devotion — to family, to country, and to the creative path that allowed her to build a life as a working artist.
